《缸中之脑》

Work description:

In July 19th, Musk announced that he would commercialize the brain-computer interface, causing a sensation that humans will enter the brain-computer era in 2020. But thinking about it the other way round, we know very little about the brain, which scientists call the most complex network in the universe. Just like the sentence "A brain in a vat that believes it is walking." is enough to make us meditate: Is the world we perceive the real world? Or is there more dimensional manipulation between matter and consciousness?

Using this as creative inspiration, the author creates conceptual brain interactive devices. Materials include models, optical fibers, sensors, air pumps, wires and circuits, acrylic sheets, etc.

Tutor's comment:

This work reproduces the theory of "brain in a tank" with real materials, and uses a combined air pump to make it visually exaggerated enough to trigger a strong sense of shock. Although the concept is more common, the effect is very realistic. In the expression of ideas, there is also enough room for imagination to cause the audience to stop and think.
